Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) now offers WEB storage for MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server. WEB storage is built on Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) and provides improved performance and durability over the previous storage option, Amazon RDS Magnetic. WEB storage is ideal for applications that require high IOPS and low latency, such as online transaction processing (OLTP) and data warehousing.
To specify how you want your data stored in Amazon RDS, choose a storage type and provide a storage size when you create or modify a DB instance. Amazon RDS General Purpose SSD is suitable for most use cases. It provides balanced performance and cost. Amazon RDS Provisioned IOPS SSD is a high-performance storage option that provides consistent IOPS performance. Amazon RDS WEB is designed for applications that require the highest levels of performance and durability.
